Zulu king calls for Shariah law

The Zulu Monarch KingGoodwill Zwelithini in hisspeech to the official openingof the Kwa-Zulu NatalProvincial Council called for theintroduction of Shariah Law inSouth Africa as a solution to thehigh crime rate in the country.According to the Reporter, Wanda Hlongwa of the CityPress, the King said that “thehigh crime rate is a seriousindictment on our justice systemand society cannot be faulted incalling for the introduction ofShariah Law.”

Dawah Outreach “Dua”

The Dawah Unity Accord (DUA) was launched at a function held on Saturday 24th May 2003 at the Abdul Aziz Auditorium. The Director of IPCI Rafeek Hassen and the field worker, Issa Mbatha are represented on the executive committee of DUA. The main objective of DUA is to create a forum for our African Brothers and Sisters from the townships to unite and empower themselves. IPCI on Channel Islam

The IPCI has a regular slot on Channel Islam, on alternate Sundays from 21h00 to 22h00 SA time. You will hear the Director of IPCI, Rafeek Hassen discussing pertinent issues on Comparative Religion.

Al-Majd TV at IPCI

The Al-Majd TV Channel screened a documentary entitled "the Story of Deedat" on November 20 at 22h00. This documentary filmed in South Africa by Brother Sami Zedan retraces the events that moulded the character of the renown expert in comparative religion, Sheikh Ahmed Deedat founder of the Islamic Propagation Centre International (IPCI). The IPCI thanks Sheikh Wajdi El- Gazawi.

Flooding the Country with Free Qurans & Literature

It was the life-long ambition of Sheikh Ahmed Deedat to flood the world with free Islamic literature. The IPCI has taken the initiative of implementing this by "flooding the country" with free Zulu Qur'ans & Zulu literature. From Ramadan to date the IPCI has distributed more than 30 000 Zulu Qur'ans and literature. In this regard we wish to express our sincere thanks to the Muslim Community of South Africa for having played an important role in this project by collecting and distributing these Qur'ans and literature to their workers and thereby propagating Islam.

PSC Honours IPCI Trustee

IPCI congratulates Ebrahim Mahomed Jadwat, Trustee of IPCI on receiving a prestigious “Human Rights Award” presented by the Palestine Suport Committee at a fund raising dinner held at the Orient Hall in Durban on 11th April 2003.

Staff News

The IPCI welcomes Moulana Ismail Cassimjee who has joined the IPCI as Principal / lecturer in the Learning Academy. Moulana Cassimjee has completed his honours degree and is presently registered for a Master's degree in Comparative Religion with the University of South Africa.
