Saturday 24 November 2007 Phoenix -FREE SCREENING BIBI MARYAM (A.S.) HER PIETY & OBEDIENCE TO ALLAH (SWT)
From past outreaches the IPCI team noticed that there was not a positive response from the audience in the Phoenix & Chatsworth area and hence the IPCI team changed its strategy by screening the Movie:on Mariam (AS) the mother of Jesus (P) . The programme commenced with a Jummah Talk on Friday the 23rd of November 2007 at the Al-Qaderi Mosque which was delivered by Hafez Shabir Basha who emphasized on the importance of clearing the misconceptions of Islam. Approximately 100 people attended the screening of the movie the next day. A question & answer session was held after the screening of the movie wherein Attorney Yusuf Ismail answered questions on how to respond to the onslaught of missionaries in the area. Also in attendance was Reverend Rainald O. Meyer from the St. Thomas Lutheran Church. He conducts missionary work in Phoenix & Chatsworth areas. We will be liaising with him to arrange further inter-faith dialogue programmes in Chatsworth & Phoenix The audience welcomed our presence. The IPCI intends screening of more talks, documentaries at this venue. Insha Allah!
Saturday 2nd December 2007-Chatsworth - FREE SCREENING BIBI MARYAM (A.S.) HER PIETY & OBEDIENCE TO ALLAH (SWT)
A similar programme to the above was conducted at the Al-Ameen Mosque Hall in Chatsworth. A Jummah talk was delivered by Hafez Shabir Basha inviting the people to play a more active role in the Dawah. The screening of the movie was attended by approximately 60 people with about 10 non-Muslims attending the event.
The IPCI’s next screening is at the Sherwood Hal, 102 Harris Crescent, Locksley Drive, Sherwood on Saturday the 19th of January 2008. If you are from the area bring along a Non-Muslim friend. Majority of the non-Muslims have the misconceptions that We Muslims are the Anti-Christ so we need to clear this notion.

7-10th December 2007 - Dawah Training Conference – Sheikh Fadel Soliman
150 Delegates from all corners of South Africa inclusive of Zimbabwe attended the first ever conference which was unique in its inception in South Africa The Conference was conducted in conjunction with the Bridges Foundation & Al-Baraka Bank Sheikh Fadel Soliman, who is the director of the Bridges Foundation based in Cairo conducted the course.
The participants at the conference were educated on how to present Islam articulately and with full confidence to Non Muslims and a hostile public in general. The delegates were given guidelines and incentives on how to answer the most common questions asked by non-Muslims about Islam. Upon completion of thecourse the delegates were given an opportunity to do a power-point presentation. Attendants were inspired and motivated to limits beyond the expectations of the organizers and Insha Allah the IPCI intends making this an annual experience. Latest word in the pipeline is that Sheikh Soliman will be running another course in July 2008.
Tuesday 11th December 2007 - PUBLIC LECTURE AL-ANSAAR HALL
11th December 2007, at the Al-Ansaar Hall, DR. FADEL SOLIMAN (Bridges Foundation) together with Lawyer and independent researcher on comparative religion YUSUF ISMAIL (IPCI) addressed a diverse audience comprising of Muslims and Christians on the topic MUSLIMS BEFORE MUHAMMED (PBUH).
In a hard-hitting power-point presentation, the exposition focused on the historically circumscribed significance that the term ‘Muslim’ and ‘Islam’ had acquired in the Muslim mind and indeed much of the world. In contradistinction, to the terms ‘Christian’, ‘Hindu’, ‘Jewish’ etc. which were described by Yusuf Ismail as historical constructs that had evolved out of the social milieu of a particular time and epoch; the terms Islam and Muslim on the other hand had to be seen in its universal context. In this light the message from eternal inception was and always is Islam in the universal sense. Consequentially people in history who were not followers of Islam in the conventional sense technically can be described as ‘Muslims’ in the universal sense. Fadel Soliman and Yusuf Ismail also focused on the historical development of Christianity, the Council of Nicaea and identified various Bishops immediately after Christ who were monotheists i.e Muslims in the universal sense of the world. An analysis was provided on the conflict between Arius whom Yusuf described as a Muslim and Athanasius (the founder of the Athanasian creed-trinity).
According to Fadel Soliman, the Arians were the Muslims whom the Prophet Muhammed (PBUH) described in the hadith during their persecution. The audience were left enlightened on an entirely new discourse and level of engagement that is absent from the conventional discussions in Muslim circles and mosques. A lively question and answers session followed.
The week long activity concluded with the IPCI highlight of the year its annual dinner held at the Orient Hall on the 12th of December 2007 attended by approximately 500 people. All of the above programmes are available on DVD
