IPCI belongs to the Ummah

Ahmed Saeed Moola, the newly appointed leader of the Islamic Propagation Centre International, was one of the Islamic youth activists who convened the lectures for Sheikh Ahmed Deedat in the 1980's. He was inspired with a sense of Islamic vision and mission by Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, the founder of the Islamic Propagation Centre International. He urged the international community to pray for Sheikh Deedat, his family, especially his wife Hawa whose support made it possible for him to become such an excellent servant of Islam. His wife Hawa continues to nurse him with care and devotion since his stroke in 1996. Whilst Sheikh Ahmed Deedat is still bedridden after suffering a severe stroke in 1996, the trustees of the IPCI have decided to appoint Ahmed Saeed Moola as its interim leader.

Ahmed Saeed Moola, who was an Islamic activist during his high school and university days, has on his appointment to this very crucial and honoured position, called on the international Muslim community to pray for the well being of Sheikh Ahmed Deedat, an internationally recognized servant of Islam.

In an interview with IPCI NEWS, Saeed Moola says that in spite of Sheikh Ahmed Deedat's illness, his ideas, sense of purpose and mission with which he directed the IPCI, remains the source of inspiration for the organization, its trustees and management.

"Sheikh Deedat has built an international organization which is highly respected throughout the world. Motivated by his legacy, the IPCI will continue to propagate Islam to a world in need of its message and guidance, Insha'Allah," says Ahmed Saeed.

He says that he is proud to be part of a team of dedicated trustees whose record of service to the community is well known and who have taken on the onerous challenge to build on the foundation laid by Sheikh Ahmed Deedat. "Our trustees have been associated with Sheikh Deedat over many years and are well positioned to continue the goals to which he committed himself so single-mindedly."

He says Sheikh Deedat felt very passionate about making the English translation of the Glorious Qur'an widely available. Very few people were zealous as Sheikh Deedat to take the message of the Qur'an to the English-speaking world, particularly in those countries where it is the lingua franca of the dominant West, and where larger Muslim communities have emerged over the last century. Sheikh Deedat personally drove the programme to publish Alama Yusuf Ally's English translation of the Qur'an that the IPCI is still vigorously promoting.

Sheikh Deedat used to say: "If we have the money, we would flood the world with English translations of the Qur'an as well as our literature."

Ahmed Saeed calls upon the international stakeholders of the IPCI to continue supporting the IPCI, more so now than ever before. "We have committed ourselves to the propagation of Islam and have put in place a training programme to produce more 'DEEDATS', Insha'Allah. Come and visit us. We are accountable to our stakeholders and we are transparent in the way we are managing the IPCI. We have audited financial statements and the organization has clearly defined controls in place to ensure that the organization is governed by the highest ethical standards and competence."

"The IPCI has embarked on a comprehensive programme which will have its main focus, the development of excellent human resources who will be able to deliver the message of Islam 'with wisdom and beautiful preaching'".

The newly appointed leader expressed his deep sense of appreciation and thanks to those stakeholders who have supported the IPCI over the years, particularly during the difficult years. "We are grateful to you for the sacrifices you have made to support the IPCI to enable us to further the cause of Islam. Without you our task would have been impossible. We need your continued support to make this organization sustainable so that it will be around for another century and more, to deliver Islam to humanity and to develop the best communities to serve humanity at large, Insha'Allah."
