Activity Report for July & August 2006

During July & August 2006 the IPCI team focused on two major projects namely the “= Dawah Quran” & the “Get Serious about= Dawah Campaign”<= /p>

<= u>Dawah= Quran: This project was launched to clear the misconceptions of Islam.The IPCI team visited M= uslim Establishments and spoke to their non-Muslim staff about Islam and also presented their non-Muslim staff with a copy of the Da= wah Quran (English Only)The following areas were visited, Dundee, Danhauser, Newcastle, Pietermari= tzburg. The IPCI team spoke to about 500 staff during this period and the message of Islam was given to them.

One of the highlights during this two months was the meeting with Reverend Joseph Zungu<= /span> who has a large following in the area of Thornville. We are currently arran= ging a meeting wherein IPCI’s Uncle Dawood Ngwane will be add= ressing the followers of his congregation about Islam. Insha Allah.

Get Serious about Dawah Camp= aign

The IPCI director of Dawah <= span class=3DSpellE>Rafeek Hassen and team co= nducted successful outreach programmes in the above areas on the following theme ̶= 0;All you wanted to know about Islam & Muslims what the Church & Media hi= des.

A combination of 1000 people attended both these functions. Free literature on Islam, DVD’s = etc were presented to the attendants. The IPCI’= ; s programme format is as follows . <= /span>

Ø &n= bsp; Jummah Talk – Muslim audience – motivate them to do the Dawah

Ø &n= bsp; Non-Muslim outreach – evening programme theme topic = to Muslims and non-Muslims with q & a .

Mosque Tours / Group Tours / School Tours

386 people were taken on a free guided tour to the Grey Street Masjd. These inc= luded people from different countries from around the globe. The IPCI is ple= ased to announce that it is now an official tour operator.

v 60 Christian Missionaries who = are active in = Zimbabwe, Malawi, Sudan, Nigeria were received by the IPCI on the 23 August 2006.

v 50 learners from Mzumvi Primary School & 60 from Saint= Pauls Primary School (= Swaziland) toured the IPCI. An audio visual presentation of Islam was done and the

learners were given FREE LITERATURE and snacks at the Centre.

REVERSIONS

22 people embraced Islam in Ju= ly & August 2006. These included people from all races, Indian, Coloured whites. Once these people embrace Islam @ IP= CI they join our Revert Classes.

REVERT CLASSES

21 = new Muslims are currently doing the “Introduction to Islam course @ IPCI which is conducted on weekdays and a special class on Saturdays for those w= ho are working.

COMPARATIVE RELI= GION (Mondays to Fridays)

ü &n= bsp; 10 learner= s who are from countries like Sudan, Malawi, Congo and South Africa are currently doing the full time comparative Religion Course. These students are currently residing at the IPCI Residence in Sydney Road= . – Durban. <= o:p>

Introduction to Journalism (Saturdays only)

13 learners are doing the introduction to Journalism cou= rse which is inclusive of Comparative Students. These lectures are conducted by= Moulana Rafeek Mahomed, Siraj Bassa & Tasneem Langry of Independent Newspaper. =

Daily Correspondence

The= IPCI receives an average of 100 letters, i.e. faxes e-mails daily from persons f= rom all corners of the globe requesting i.e. free literature, questions on Isla= m, DVD’s etc.

Printing & Publication.

Ø &n= bsp; 10 000 cop= ies of “Understanding Islam” in the Pedi-Northern Suthu printed with the assistance= of a generous donor.
